Where does your £3 per month go?

Membership funds are distributed in a variety of ways, and it is important you know how you are helping, and where your money goes.

Hives - To establish new colonies that can be cared for by our team, we need to build and buy new hives for our new colonies to settle into. We also recycle old hives and refurbish them to be put into the project.

Nucleus - These are small boxes which can house a smaller amount of frames. The Queen is placed into this small holding box until she is ready to be placed into her new hive.

Technology - We are trying to cut down on paper and waste – we recycle wherever we can. As a result we are going to be as automated as possible.

Each hive will be designated its own unique name. After each maintenance check this is recorded on the mobile app , which all our staff and bee keepers have access to. This feeds into our main system so we can see exactly how each hive and queen is progressing after each visit. This ensures we can act promptly if needed, as well as good record keeping for our hives.

Land - Our aim is to purchase, maintain and house apiary's on land throughout the UK. This land will be guaranteed to be kept free of pesticides, insecticides and routinely maintained. The aim will be to have educational centres throughout the United Kingdom which anyone can visit to learn more about the bees and how the project is progressing.

Staff - To maintain and care for the hives we rely on an army of volunteers and staff throughout the United Kingdom – however we retain a small amount of staff for the daily running of the project with admin etc.

Marketing - To educate and spread the word of The Great British Bee Project we try to attend as many public places as possible, this can anything such as village fetes, school talks, local gardening clubs, to huge centres and conference rooms. If you would like us to present to your group, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Transport - To maintain and support our vehicles so we ensure we have 24 / 7 access to our hives throughout the United Kingdom.

Your Membership really does go a long way to supporting our project!
